GONG! is for soccer fans, casual game enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys having fun with their friends online.
4. What makes GONG! different from other soccer games?
GONG! brings players a soccer game that is easy to learn and also difficult to master. GONG! features anime-style artwork, in-game items that create effects that can distract your opponents or improve your chances of scoring, and different playgrounds that each have their own style of play.
5. How do you play GONG!?
Our game-play is simple; you can play the game with just your mouse, or if you choose, with a keyboard & mouse. Pressing a few keys allows you to use items & special skills to beat your opponents.
As you play, you also build your own character in the process. For more information on the game-play, you should try the training exercises and quests, or check out Grandpa's Journal.
6. How do I download the game?
Downloading GONG! is easy. Simply go to our download page, and click on the download button. The installer will take over from there. Once GONG! is downloaded, you can launch the game by clicking on the icon.
7. I've created a character, but the game won't let me play
After creating your character, you must first complete the training exercises before you can play with others.
8. How do I improve my skills?
One way to improve your skills is by playing in Quest mode. Quests are short matches in which you have to meet certain goals like making 5 passes or stealing the ball from your opponent. Another way to improve your skills is by using stars to purchase special items.
9. I tried to start a Quest, but I got a message instead. Why won't it let me play?
All players can play any of the level 1 Quests. However, more advanced Quests require Stars. If you do not have enough Stars, you can't play that Quest. Remember, you can still improve your abilities with level 1 Quests, and earn more stars through matches.
10. What are stars?
Stars are the main currency of GONG! Our Star system is simple, play matches and you'll earn Star points. An average player vs. player match will reward each player around 3,000 - 5,000 Star Points, and about 30,000 Star Points will be needed to fill up an Empty Star.
Players will all start off with a limited amount of Empty Star slots to fill up. Note that the number of Star Points that you earn in a match will depend on whether you win the match or not. So make sure to win!!!
11. What if I run out of empty star slots?
When you need extra star slots, you can purchase them in the Shop area of the game. You can also purchase them on the community website.
12. What are coins?
Coins are the community currency of GONG! While Stars and Star Points are mainly awarded for your play in matches, Coins are awarded when you do something nice for the GONG! community like inviting a friend, or posting a message.
Coins usually won't affect your skills in the game, but they will give you a chance to earn prizes and participate in special events.
13. What are Items?
Items are objects that appear in the game and give you special abilities for a limited time. Items appear as a gift box, and disappear once a player touches them. Once you touch an item, it goes into your empty item slot that's when you'll see which item you grabbed! Pressing the CTRL key activates the item.
You have 2 item slots when you first play the game, and you can get the 3rd one after you've gathered enough experience in the game. The item in the first slot will be used when you press the CTRL key, and the next item will then move into the slot. Remember that you can't pick up more items when all of your item slots are already full.
14. What are special actions?
Special Actions are extra abilities that a player can activate during the game. One example is the overhead kick. Using a Special Action (SA) is easy just press the Z, X, or C key when you have enough Fury. Some SAs need to be used with the ball, some do not.
15. What is Fury?
Fury is your player's energy bar. It increases slowly throughout the game. You can quickly increase Fury by using Peppers, one of the key items that can be found in the game.
16. What are Ultra Actions?
Ultra Actions (UA) are more powerful than Special Actions (SA), but cannot be used as frequently. Ultra Actions become available when you have the ball and your Fury is full. You will know that your Fury is full because the meter in the lower right hand corner will flash and your character will be on fire.
To start a UA, press the V key the ball will be kicked toward the cursor, and the UA will consume all of your Fury. Fury increases slowly in the game, and is related to the character's attributes. Therefore, you will need time to maximize Fury, or you will have to use items like Peppers which increase it.
17. How do I know how good my player is?
If you look in Career (under My Stuff) you will see a screen that lists your player's attributes. In GONG!, every character will have four unique attributes: Heart (kicking power and fury), Brain (kicking accuracy), Leg (running and dribbling speed), and Foot (balance and ball control). These attributes are improved when you earn attribute points.
To gain attribute points, you must successfully complete Quests, earn rewards through Co-op matches, or purchase attribute point tickets in the item shop with Stars. In addition, players develop skills. Skills can either be new Special Actions or Ultra Actions, and can be purchased with Stars in the item shop.
Finally, you can upgrade your clothing which also improves your abilities. As with point tickets and skills, clothing upgrades can be purchased in the shop with Stars.
